Bitters & Twists

Nothing excites me more than creating a whole new look for a brand that's a true passion project; and Bitters & Twists is most definitely that! If you've ever thought you knew everything there was to know about drinking, you clearly haven't met Krzysztof yet! This guy really knows his stuff. An alcohol afficionado and cocktail enthusiast, the Bitters & Twists brand was created around Krzysztof's passion and appreciation for classy, old-school, traditional cocktails (think the likes of sloe gin, whisky and absinthe in darkened prohibition bars) paired with his immense knowledge of the history, flavours and potential these spirits bring to the table. The two of us worked closely together on this one. It was important to both of us that the logo represented everything the brand is about; accuracy! Yep, that's right. Whilst we could have slapped a cliche martini glass with an olive on there, we instead focused on using a cocktail that truly symbolised Bitters & Twists...and it was spot on. Whilst I taught Krzystztof about the importance of colours and fonts, he very thoroughly educated me on the use of correct glassware and garnishes to make a drink just right! Apparently a cherry was the correct one […]

Lemon Drops

Now, I don't know about you, but I absolutely love the thought of a handmade, artisan gift. So much time, thought and skill goes into something lovingly crafted by hand that you can almost feel the energy of it's creator poured into it...and that's exactly how I felt about Tina Lee, of Perth-based business Lemon Drops, amazing creations. (Yes! I can hand-on-heart say that I was a very satisfied customer!)  Designing a brand that was funky and fresh, just like her stunning hand burnt pyrographic cutting boards and barware, was more pleasure than work.Tina is a truly inspiring, talented and generous woman, putting in up to 15 hours (!!!) of painstaking work into producing each her unique masterpieces, BY HAND. Then, after all that hard work, she donates a huge chunk of her earnings to those less fortunate then her. What a freakin' legend. It was only right that her business' look shared the same vibrant energy as it's creator. Reflecting the artisan nature of her work with brush and handwritten style lettering, crowned with it's bright and juicy namesake, the Lemon Drops logo stands out in a crowd. Good use of Tina's product photos and wooden textures really tie the whole theme together and let her […]

Best For My Bub

I think that I can safely say that Tami Lloyd, the health coach and beautiful soul behind Best for my Bub, is one of the most vivacious and contagiously positive clients I've ever had the pleasure of working with. A small business owner and very new to the world of branding and design, she came to me looking not only for a basic branding package but also the gentle guidance and support a great designer should offer to help her understand the how's and why's of what direction she should take with her new look. Luckily, she found me! In a market that's absolutely saturated in overly complex and underwhelming clipart images of female silhouette logos, the first thing the two of us agreed on was that this logo was to be anything but that!! Simple and trendy was the name of the game, but just like Tami herself, it was important that Best for my Bub retained an air of fun and affection about it. After all, bringing a baby into the world is a lovely, exciting and vibrant time (there's a reason they say us ladies "glow" during pregnancy); and that's what this brand is all about! Rather than taking the […]

GAIN Inc.

The ladies from GAIN Inc. came to me with an exisiting logo from the early days (around 2000) of their group forming, in need of a freshen-up to better reflect the direction they have developed in over time. GAIN Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to increase awareness and act as a voice on all gynaecological issues and cancers. Whilst their original logo certainly worked to use a little humour to "lighten the mood" on some very serious matters and create a bit of a talking point (which is important for such a taboo subject!), it became apparent very quickly that it did not fit the desired feelings of professional, modern, trustworthy and discreet that they were aiming for. It was time for an upgrade! With a desire to have more appeal to the younger demographic than they had previously (and help raise awareness from a younger age) it was very important to keep the look quite age neutral. As it is (obviously) a very feminine-based organisation and the ladies didn't want to drift entirely away from their existing look, we decided to run with that same gorgeous, bold, punch of pink as the base of the overall visual theme. To contrast it, I brought in […]

Cottontails and Whiskers

The Cottontails and Whiskers branding was so much fun to work on; mostly because it involved a lot of research* looking up adorable pictures of kittens and bunnies! Teagan, the business owner and fur-mum of many fluffy children (including 3 cheeky cats and 3 cuddly rabbits!) wanted something cute and fun, just like the pets she caters for. As the name suggests, bunnies are one of the main animals she provides products for, so I was focused on finding a way to include a subtle cottontail character into the logo design. Throw in some hand-drawn text and we have a bright and playful design that suits Teagan’s brand perfectly! Along with the logo design, I also teamed up with Teagan to work on many of the graphics on her website, including some stylised icons to represent each animal category (again; a treat to draw!) and some social media branding for the Facebook page. *it may not have been actual research. Cats. Internet. It was inevitable. Find out more about Teagan and her fluffballs! Find them on Facebook

Raw Cold Brew

Oh, Carpe Coffee. I seriously can’t get enough of these guys (have you dropped in for a coffee at their Perth or Midland locations yet? Get on it!). When cafe owner James told me he was starting a top secret coffee project that required a fresh, new design; I knew it could only mean good things. I was right. Just like everything that the Carpe crew do, they aim to be a little left of center. Raw Cold Brew, as the name suggests, is a pure and simple, cold brewed coffee. No added sugars, flavours or other unnecessarys; just coffee and milk. “Raw”. With the raw food revolution going into overdrive these days, it was no surprise that James didn’t want his cold brew following the popular trend of green, health food-type design. The cafes certainly aren’t mainstream, so why should the coffee look any different?! I was very lucky (and excited!) to have been given pretty much free-reign on this design, with only a small request of perhaps taking a look at something with a slightly retro vibe. All that’s left to do now is give our strongman a name! Find out more about Carpe Coffee   Find them on Facebook Follow on Instagram
